Terms of Use
1. Introduction
1.1 These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the website operated as “UK Drone Guide” (the “Site”), including all content, tools, and services made available on or through it (together, the “Services”).
1.2 By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use in full. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Site.
1.3 These Terms apply whether you are accessing the Site as an individual, on behalf of an organisation, or in any other capacity.
1.4 These Terms are separate from, and in addition to, any terms that may apply to third party services, websites, or platforms that are linked from or integrated with the Site.
2. Definitions
2.1 “UK Drone Guide”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator or operators of the Site.
2.2 “You”, “your” and “user” mean any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Site or Services.
2.3 “Content” means all text, graphics, images, diagrams, tables, icons, audio, video, software, code, tools, calculators, datasets, guides, explanations, and any other material made available on or through the Site.
2.4 “Services” means all features and functionality offered via the Site, including but not limited to informational pages, quick reference guides, regulatory explanations, interactive tools and calculators, NOTAM and airspace-related views, and any other resources or utilities made available through the Site.
2.5 “UK CAA” means the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority.
2.6 “UAS” means Unmanned Aircraft System, commonly referred to as “drones”.
2.7 References to the singular include the plural and vice versa. References to any gender include all genders. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
3. Independence from Authorities
3.1 UK Drone Guide is an independent resource. It is not owned by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the UK CAA, NATS, or any other aviation authority, regulator, or governmental body.
3.2 References or links to UK CAA, NATS, AIS, or any other official or third party resources are provided solely for convenience and informational purposes. Such references do not imply any endorsement, approval, or formal relationship.
4. Eligibility and Access
4.1 By using the Site, you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction; and
- you have the legal capacity to enter into and be bound by these Terms.
4.2 If you are under the age of legal majority, you must obtain the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian before using the Site.
4.3 Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Site and Services for your own personal, non-commercial use and for lawful drone-related activities.
4.4 We may modify, suspend, restrict, or discontinue any aspect of the Site or Services at any time, with or without notice, and without liability.
5. Intellectual Property
5.1 Unless otherwise stated, all Content on the Site is protected by copyright, database right, trade mark, and other intellectual property rights owned by us or our licensors.
5.2 Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you may:
- view the Site and Content using a standard web browser;
- download or cache pages for temporary, personal use; and
- print a reasonable number of pages for your own personal, non-commercial reference.
5.3 You must not, without our prior written consent:
- reproduce, copy, distribute, republish, frame, mirror, or exploit any Content for commercial purposes;
- modify, adapt, tranneutral, or create derivative works based on the Content;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trade mark, or proprietary notices; or
- use any trade marks, logos, or branding displayed on the Site.
5.4 If the Site allows you to submit content (for example feedback or suggestions), you:
- grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, tranneutral, distribute, and display such content in any media in connection with the Site and our Services; and
- warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant that licence and that your content does not infringe any third party rights or applicable laws.
6. Permitted and Prohibited Uses
6.1 You may use the Site and Services to:
- access informational guidance and quick reference material relating to drone operations in the UK;
- use interactive tools and calculators in accordance with any on-screen instructions; and
- print or save Content for your personal, non-commercial reference and lawful drone planning activities.
6.2 You must not use the Site or Services to:
- breach any applicable law, regulation, UK CAA requirement, or aviation rule;
- engage in unsafe, reckless, or unlawful drone operations;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, its underlying systems, or other user data;
- interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the security or performance of the Site;
- copy or scrape significant portions of the Site using automated tools such as bots or scrapers, except as permitted by law and with our prior written consent;
- transmit viruses, malware, or any other harmful code; or
- misrepresent your relationship with us or imply that we endorse any product, service, or activity.
7. No Professional Advice
7.1 The Site and Services are provided for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal advice, regulatory advice, safety advice, flight instruction, or any other form of professional advice.
7.2 Regulations, airspace classifications, and operational guidance can change frequently. While we aim to keep Content accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee that it will always reflect the latest legal or regulatory position.
7.3 You remain solely responsible for:
- understanding and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and UK CAA requirements;
- obtaining appropriate professional advice where needed; and
- verifying critical details using official UK CAA publications, AIP material, NATS AIS information, and other authoritative sources.
8. Interactive Tools, Calculators and Live Data
8.1 The Site may provide interactive tools, such as:
- drone operations calculators;
- compliance or categorisation tools; and
- views of live or periodically updated aeronautical information, such as NOTAMs or airspace data.
8.2 These tools and displays are provided “as is” for convenience and general situational awareness only. Outputs may be affected by input errors, software bugs, configuration issues, data delays, or changes in laws and regulations that have not yet been reflected on the Site.
8.3 Where the Site displays NOTAM or airspace information sourced from third parties such as NATS, that data:
- is provided for awareness only;
- may contain errors, omissions, delays, or interruptions; and
- may not be complete, current, or suitable for operational decision-making.
8.4 You remain solely responsible for:
- verifying all tool outputs and data displays;
- obtaining official briefings and documents, including an AIS Pre-Flight Information Bulletin (PIB) where required; and
- making your own independent assessment of risks and compliance before any flight.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
9.1 Your use of the Site, Content, and Services is entirely at your own risk.
9.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, representations, and guarantees, whether express or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
9.3 We do not warrant that the Site or Services will be uninterrupted, error free, secure, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
9.4 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we, our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers shall not be liable for:
- any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary loss or damage;
- any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities; or
- any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site, Content, or Services, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage.
9.5 If, notwithstanding the above, we are found liable to you, our aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or in connection with the Site, Content, Services, or these Terms shall not exceed £100, except where a different amount is required by applicable law.
9.6 Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
10. Third Party Links and Resources
10.1 The Site may contain links or references to third party websites, services, or resources, including but not limited to UK CAA, NATS, and other aviation, mapping, or information providers.
10.2 Such links are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, availability, policies, or practices of any third party sites or services.
10.3 Your use of third party sites or services is at your own risk and subject to the terms and policies of those third parties.
11. Indemnity
11.1 You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless us and our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against any and all losses, liabilities, claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- your use or misuse of the Site, Content, or Services;
- your breach of these Terms; or
- any claim that your actions or content infringe the rights of any third party or violate applicable law.
11.2 We reserve the right to assume exclusive control of any matter subject to indemnification. You agree to cooperate with us in the defence of such claims.
12. Changes to the Site and Terms
12.1 We may update, modify, or remove Content or Services at any time, for any reason, without liability.
12.2 We may amend these Terms from time to time. When we do so, the updated version will be posted on the Site with an updated effective date.
12.3 By continuing to access or use the Site after the revised Terms become effective, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Site.
13. Suspension and Termination
13.1 We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the Site or Services at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, if required for security or operational reasons, or for any other reason at our discretion.
13.2 Upon termination, your right to use the Site and Services ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and governing law) shall continue in full force and effect.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
14.1 These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, or with the Site or Services, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, or, if you are resident in Scotland, the laws of Scotland, or, if you are resident in Northern Ireland, the laws of Northern Ireland.
14.2 Subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions, you agree that the courts of England and Wales (or, where applicable, the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland) shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Site.
14.3 If you are a consumer, nothing in this clause affects any statutory right you may have to bring a claim in the courts of your home jurisdiction.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
16. Waiver
No failure or delay by us in exercising any right or remedy under these Terms shall constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any documents expressly incorporated by reference (including the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer), constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your use of the Site and Services.
